ProjectsThroughout my leadership program, I have had worked on many inquiry based projects. While working on these projects I have learned the importance of social justice and the universal design for learning and ensuring that all students and parents have a voice in education. My work at Kent State shown me the importance of many aspects when building a school community. Aspects such as collaboration of schools of different settings outside a district, involving all stakeholders and including students, analyzing data and supporting plans with research, conducting needs assessments, curriculum audits, culture and climate surveys and how to foster an equitable school community. LearningAt Kent State University I had the opportunity to engage in a plethora of inquiry based projects and learned about social justice and building a positive school culture and climate. I learned the importance of thinking outside the box and researching and applying what I had learned instead of regurgitating information on test and through multiple papers I was engaged in meaningful learning. Also, I read many texts and found meaning in what I was reading and developed similes, metaphors, art projects, videos to describe what I learned from the text and discussed the information with colleagues from various districts. The picture illustrates my thoughts on the type of educator that I will be. The dark side represents what type of leader I will not become. I will not always be in my office on the computer or hiding behind my desk. I don't’ want my teachers and students upset and stressed out because the school is chaotic due to me not being present .
The bright yellow side illustrates that I will lead my students, families, and staff into a brighter tomorrow. I want to motivate and encourage others. I want to foster a diverse learning environment and have supports in place to develop success. We can’t achieve success when there is a lack of rapport between school, families, students, communities, and home. Anything that I do as an administrator will be researched based and will help the students achieve success ensuring that I look at the whole child to help them reach that success. Families, students, staff, and community will work in a partnership to build a positive school community. The school community has to collaborate support one another to help the students achieve. |
